Welcome to High Impact Dance.
We are very excited for our upcoming year and are so glad you are
joining us! Here is some basic information about our
studio. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Registration Fee
There is no registration fee or contracts for new
students. We hope you love dancing at our studio and
will stay with us in the future if you do.
Tuition
Payments are due by the 7th of each
month. You can pay quarterly if you
like. Tuition is $35 for 45 minute
classes and $40 per month for 1 hour classes.
For students taking multiple classes, tuition for the first class is the
regular price. For each additional
class, $5 is taken off the price of tuition.
Every month is the same tuition amount regardless of days in the month,
absences, etc. We have many extra activities that we don’t
charge separately for. It all evens out
with performances, rehearsals, and extra summer practices. You can make up missed classes if there is a
similar class offered on a different day or time that works for you. We only accept payment by cash or check (no
credit cards). Checks should be payable
to High Impact Dance. There is a $10
late fee and a $25 returned check fee.
Please put payments in the payment box out front. If paying cash, please make sure it is in an
envelope with the student’s name on it.
Withdrawing From A Class
While we don't have
dancers sign a contract, we do require 2 weeks written notice if a student is
going to be withdrawing from a class. Please let us know if we can
accomodate you with a class change, etc.
Holidays, Etc.
Classes are held according to the North Thurston School
District calendar major holidays. These include Thanksgiving, Christmas Break, Mid-Winter & Spring Breaks, and Memorial Day. If school is cancelled due to the weather,
class is also cancelled. However, if it
is just a late start, we will still have evening classes. If you aren’t sure, feel free to call. We will also post info on our website.
Shoes
Shoes are not required the
first week of class. You can try out
classes in tennis shoes and get guidance from the teacher as far as sizing,
brand, etc. Shoes can be purchased at the studio or ordered if needed.
Power Tap Classes – For beginning classes, taps can be
glued on white leather tennis shoes. White
leather oxford tap shoes are recommended. Boys should wear black converse style tennis
shoes with the white toes. I recommend
using Original Shoe Goo (not black) available in the shoe department at
Wal-Mart and Fred Meyer. Inexpensive white
leather shoes can be purchased at Target or other retail stores. As dancers become more
advanced, they will need white leather lace up tap shoes. These can be ordered at the studio if we do
not have your size in stock.
Tap/Ballet Combo - Dancers
need pink leather ballet shoes ($16) and white tap shoes ($24).
White tennis shoes with glue on taps can also be used.
Ballet Classes – All dancers should have pink leather
ballet shoes. These are available at the studio for $16 including tax.
Hip Hop Classes – Dancers can start out in non-bulky
tennis shoes. They should eventually
purchase black hip hop sneakers.
Mix It Up Combo - Dancers will use black jazz shoes or hip hop sneakers (preferred).
Musical Theater – Dancers need a black jazz shoe.
Lyrical - Dancers need a nude ballet or split sole shoe.
Mini Hip Hop/Jazz - Dancers should have a black tennis shoe or jazz shoe for performing.
Ballet/Jazz Combo - Dancers need a pink leather ballet shoe.
Costumes
We will be ordering costumes after the first few months
of classes. They are usually around $50-$75
and include all accessories. We make every effort to keep costumes
affordable. Sometimes, we may use them again
the next year or another class may use them, so take good care of them. A costume deposit must be paid at the time or
ordering. We will use these throughout
the year at performances.
Performances
We will be doing various performances throughout the
year at all types of events. Our first
one will be around the holidays. I will
let you know dates later in the year.
Performances are optional, but they are a lot of fun and a real
confidence booster. Some of the
performances we typically do are Nursing Home, Lacey Fun Fair, Thurston County
Fair, Sand in the City and many more.
If you have a suggestion , let me know.
Student Etiquette
Students are expected to be on time to classes, and
parents are expected to be on time to pick them up. All students should practice regularly. If you are absent, please get with a classmate
to go over what you missed, so the whole class does not have wait while you
learn it the next week. Try and keep
absences to a minimum. Please take
younger children to the bathroom prior to class time.
Class Observations
We have an observation window, so parents are
encouraged to stay in the hall or waiting room.
If you have any questions about what your child is doing in class,
please feel free to ask.
Volunteers
If you are interested in volunteering for anything ,
PLEASE let me know. I will need parents
to help with costumes, props, performances, awards etc. Thanks for anything you can do.
What to Bring to Class
Attire for most classes is casual. Any type of workout clothing, that you are comfortable
moving in, is fine. Ballet classes
should wear tights and a leotard of any color or style. Please bring a spill-proof water bottle. It’s a great idea to keep it with their shoes. Students should also bring their practice card each week.
Information
Studio information,
calendars, pictures, etc. are available at www.highimpactdance.net. Important class information will also be sent
to the email address on file.
Rules
Everyone must have fun!
We are a recreational dance studio, and our goal is for each dancer to
become confident, active, and love to dance.
